History

The athmosphere at the Grand Hotel is made using the nostalgia as basis. The hotel with the best location in Norway, is deeply founded in history.

Proud and venerable situated at the corner of Karl Johans Street and Rosenkrantz Street.  Here, Henrik Ibsen and Fridtjof Nansen have received ovations on the famous corner balcony.  The Grand Café still offers generous open faced sandwiches, and the Royal Guard still parades in front of the hotel, on its way to the Royal palace. 

Grand Hotel is the most known and traditional hotel i Norway.  Everybody knows its location, and it is a part of our national history.  The Grand Café - it was a place to see and to be seen - as it is today!  The later years, the Grand has been modernised and renovated several times. 

The 135 year old lady is still as good as new - on the surface.  Inside, you'll hear history whispers from its walls.
