Winner of World Travel Awards

The Grand Hotel has been named Norway's Leading Business Hotel.

The Grand Hotel is proud to receive the award for the "Norway's Leading Business Hotel" from the World Travel Awards, also known as the travel industry's Oscar.

"This is very gratifying and a confirmation of a targeted focus on satisfying our business traveller guests", said a happy Fredrikke Næss, Managing Director of the Grand Hotel.

With the hotel's central location, professional service and a breakfast that recently earned Aftenposten’s top score, the Grand Hotel is the perfect choice for business men or women. With a unique selection of rooms and suites that have also greatly contributed to the hotel having Oslo’s strongest position in weekend visits, the Grand Hotel has a lot to offer to all segments of the business community, both domestic and international.

In the course of the last two years, the Grand Hotel has renovated 40 suites and 164 baths in order to be able to offer its guests the best of hotel comforts.  Here the importance of a good night’s sleep is always appreciated, as well as the opportunity for wellness and relaxation in the hotel's SPA department and fitness centre.  In February the Palm Court Restaurant reopened with a new menu, new opening hours and a new interior designed by Anemone Wille Wåge. In addition, the whole lobby area was given a big boost.

"Our vision is to offer the best guest experience and in the business market, there are other requirements than those for a weekend stay, for example.  We do notice, however, that our business guests value the range of services we offer.  There is often a leisure part of business and that is where our array is unique in the hotel industry", says Director of Sales and Marketing, Kari Hasselknippe.

The Grand Hotel, built in 1874 in the classic style, with its distinctive bell tower, stands out on Oslo's main street, Karl Johans gate, as the very image of a world class hotel: a hotel with tradition, atmosphere and style. This is something every traveler will recognize and that the capital's citizens are proud of. Extended and modernised in tune with the times, the Grand Hotel – with its 292 rooms, including 54 suites, 10-century meeting rooms, various restaurants and bars – now stands out as a modern meeting place for those from near and far. In short, it is the city’s living room.

"We are, of course, proud to be adorned with the title of Norway's Leading Business Hotel. This is a nice confirmation that our targeted efforts bring good results. We promise that we will work hard to retain the position and to keep growing”, concludes Fredrikke Næss.

The Grand Hotel was nominated in all three categories, as opposed to the others, which were only nominated in a single category each. The hotel was also nominated as Norway's Leading Hotel and Norway's Leading SPA Hotel, as a hotel was named in 2012, incidentally.

The Grand Hotel is part of the Rica Hotels chain, with nearly 80 hotels in Norway and Sweden.  As “Good Hosts" Rica Hotels operate on the principle of receiving their guests in the same way that you would receive a dear guest in your own home.
