We want to participate on a global and local level. We are proud to share that we will be supporting and working with the Malala Foundation. We feel this is a natural choice – Malala being the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Winner and our long history of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate waiving from the Nobel Suite balcony.
Our hotel will also support local and other international organizations. Keep your eye on us!

Grand Hotel Oslo by Scandic is awarded the prestigious “Swan Label”
Oslo’s most famous hotel meets one of the world’s most rigorous environmental requirements and is awarded the “Swan Label”- the official Nordic environmental certificate. It’s requirements are adjusted on a regular basis and were last updated in 2013.
“The Swan Label reflects the world’s most stringent requirements within hospitality. Our hotel is committed to some extremely tough measures, all while giving us something to strive for. We are therefore exceptionally proud to have achieved these requirements and look forward to continuing our efforts in offering guests the most environmentally friendly product possible”, says Toril Flåskjer, Hotel Director at Grand Hotel Oslo.
Sustainable within 6 months
Reducing the environmental footprint of the 145-year-old Hotel presented several challenges, not to mention hard work. The Swan Label sets very strict and objective requirements for hotels in a number of areas, including water and energy consumption, the use of products containing chemicals and the use of disposable items.
The Hotel has cut down their usage of disposable products and plastic packaging in order to reduce emissions. In addition, several products including napkins and other printed material have been replaced with Swan Labeled alternatives, and the regular detergents substituted with alternative ones containing less harmful toxins for the environment. The Grand Hotel Oslo has also introduced waste sorting options in both conference rooms and guest rooms, and has updated their menus in order to include more vegetarian and ecological options.
